The Rescue Dog

Taking ownership of a rescue dog

is like a teacher with a class of children.

Some people wouldn’t like the comparison.

You’ve no idea what to expect.

You give all the love you can but they try you to the last.

Some children are attention seekers.  Some dogs are too.

Some children are disruptive, some dogs are too.

Some children show anger and obstinence

Some dogs do too, along with sharp teeth.

In the end, it’s the way you treat them

The kindness and respect you show

The consistent firmness

And showing them whose boss

And they repay you a hundred fold.
